We've created a step-by-step onboarding process to help you launch successfully with Candle Builders. Please read all steps carefully. We included additional details about production times, shipping costs, and other useful bits of information.

⚠️ Are your products showing up as out of stock?

Likely you need to setup your Shopify Shipping Profile

If products do not have a shipping profile assigned to them, then they will show out of stock. This is a Shopify system rule, not ours.

Setting Up Shipping Profiles for Our Products
To make sure your customers can buy products in your store, you'll need to set up a shipping profile in your Shopify store. This will ensure our products show as "In Stock" and ready to ship.

You can choose to set up a general shipping profile for all products in your store, or a specific profile just for our products. If you sell other products with different shipping rates, you'll likely want to set up both.

Pro Tip: Create only one shipping rate in a profile to start with. You can always edit your shipping rates afterward.

Option 1: General Shipping Profile: This will set up your shipping options for any products not associated with a different or custom shipping profile.

  • Go to Settings > Shipping & Delivery > General Shipping Rates.
  • From there you can setup your shipping zone and shipping rate options

Option 2: (Optional): This will set up your shipping options specifically for your Candle Builders products.
Candle Builders App Shipping Profile: This will set up your shipping options specifically for your Candle Builders products.

Our app automatically adds this profile to your Shopify Shipping settings. However, it does not assign any products or shipping rates to it. Once you assign products to this shipping profile, orders for those products will ignore option 1 above.

  • Go to Settings > Shipping & Delivery > Candle Builder Shipping Profile
    * Note, the exact name of this profile may be different, but it will say "Candle Builders"
  • Like in option #1, you can setup your shipping zone and shipping rate options
  • Tip: You can create a single flat-rate shipping to simplify the setup and understand how it works. You can always edit the options later.

Why is this important?
Without a proper shipping profile, Shopify may incorrectly display our products as out of stock, even if they're available. By setting up these profiles, you'll guarantee a smooth shopping experience for your customers.

STEP 1: Add the App to your store

A. Navigate to the Shopify App Store and search for the Candle Builders App. 

B. Once the app has been downloaded, in Shopify navigate to the left navigation bar and click on apps and then Candle Builders.
This image will appear in the center of your screen and is where you will start the set up process.

STEP 2: Complete The Shopify App Setup

A. Enter Contact Information and Payment settings by clicking the settings link in the left navigation.

You will not be able to publish and sell candles until your payment settings are complete. Your card will be billed after your orders are received once every 24 hours.

B. Once the app has been downloaded, in Shopify navigate to the left navigation bar and click on apps and then Candle Builders.
This image will appear in the center of your screen and is where you will start the set up process.

STEP 3: Start Making Candles!

A. Select start customizing button from the Candle Builders landing page, or select the add products link on the left navigation. 

On the bottom of every setup page, click the "OK, next step" button to continue.

B. Select your vessel, label, and lid color combination.
You can only select one combination at a time.

Pro Tip: Select a white label if your your design has lots of color or needs white background. Select kraft labels for designs with mostly dark text and line art.

C. Select Your Scents
Select which candle scents you want to offer. The ones you select will highlight. You can pick one or all options.

Each scent will appear as a variant option in your Shopify store that your customers can select.

D. Select your template options for your label.

Option 1:
Create a text only label.
Options 2 & 3
Create a label with text and image mix.
Option 4
Upload your own label.

Label Specs
Size: 3" x 2"
Recommended format: PNG, JPG 300dpi
Minimum resolution: 900px x 600px
Larger files accepted (maintain 3:2 ratio)

Pro Tip:
Your artwork will print to the label exactly as shown in our mockup. This includes edge-to-edge with no border or bleed necessary.

E. Review & Edit Your Product Details
You can edit any details that you want now or even after your product is live on Shopify.

Be sure to:
1. Create your own product title
2. Review the premade Product Description and make changes that work for you.
3. Set your unique SKU
*(Review SKU Note Below)
4. Set your retail price

Other Important Information

Candle Prices:
These are the prices we charge you and they includes your private label.
7.5oz (9oz Jar) Prices range from $9.00 to $9.75 dependent on the candle variation.
13.75oz (16oz Jar) $11.80.
These prices are subject to change due to market conditions. We will always notify you first should prices increase.

How should I price my candles on my website?:

Many of our customers price their 9oz around $20 and 13.75oz around $25. Then they charge shipping following our shipping charges. Others charge more for the candle and offer reduced or free shipping. As the candle brand is yours to sell, you may price them how you like.


Shipping:
Orders placed through our Shopify App can only be shipped to the USA. Your business can be located anywhere in the world.

Shipping Prices:
We charge a flat rate for shipping to the US.
The 7.5 oz candle is $7 and the 13.75 candle is $8. Each additional candle is $5.00


Shipping Carrier and Methods:
We ship USPS Ground Advantage and Priority. We do not offer express shipping at this time.  

Shipping times vary dependent on distance from our New Hampshire facility. Generally it takes about 2-5 business days for USA destinations and about 10-14 business days to Canada.

Fulfillment Processing Time:
We process orders between 1-3 business days. The day we receive the order is considered day zero. During holiday rush, we process between 2-5 business days.

Packaging:
We ship single 7.5oz candles in a custom candle box. A single 13.75oz candle is packaged in a gift box and then in a 6x6x6 heavy corrugate box. All multiple candle orders are packaged in heavy corrugate boxes.

Billing:

We automatically charge the CC used during set up for the orders processed in the preceding 24 hrs. Should the CC be declined, we will rerun the card on a Thursday of the week we originally tried to bill. All invoices can be found in the app under invoices. This can be found in the left hand navigation.

Packing Slip:
There are no branded packing slips in your shipment or any indication of your pricing.


Returns, Refunds & Replacements:

Sellers should establish their own return and replacement policies. For candle products, we don't accept returns or offer refunds due to their custom nature. However, we will provide a free replacement for candles that are lost in transit, arrive broken, or have defects. Our goal is complete customer satisfaction. If your customer reports any issues, please contact help@candlebuilders.com with the customer's name, shipping address, original order number, and a picture of the damaged candle if applicable. We'll process a replacement within 1-2 business days.

Pro Tip 2: If you want your labels to print in full vivid color, select jars with white labels on them. Kraft labels are for dark line art and give your product a more vintage look.

⚠️ Understanding Product SKUs From Our Shopify App. ⚠️

SKU Note: After adding a new candle from our app to your Shopify store, you'll notice your SKU has an extra SKU at the end. Any modifications must be made on the Shopify product page. Please review this for details on what is editable.


How it works: while using our app you make a candle with the title Kitty Candle for $25 and a SKU KITTYCANDLE. You select the scent Sea Breeze, a 9oz Clear Jar with a White Lid and White Label. After publishing the product from our app to your Shopify store, the SKU will look like this in your Shopify product page: KITTYCANDLE-SB-2-WH-W23.

Our app added "-SB-2-WH-W23" to the end of your SKU. This is necessary and cannot be removed without causing issues.

Example of making a change: Let's say you want to change the product title to Cat Candle and the SKU to CATCANDLE. On your Shopify product page, you would change the SKU to CATCANDLE-SB-2-WH-W23. As long as you keep the -SB-2-WH-W23 at the end, then our app will still accept product orders without issue.

You can also change anything else on your Shopify product page without issues. This includes the Product Title, Price, Product Description, & Vendor.

Also, if you wish to change the scent, jar type, lid color or label color of a candle that you made in our app, you need to make a new product. That Shopify product is locked to those specifications in the SKU. Likewise, you cannot duplicate a product in Shopify to make a new product for Candle Builders to drop ship. The app did not make the duplicated product, so it will not work.
