You May Still Need To Active & Assign A Sales Channel on Your Shopify Product Page
After you use App 2.0 to send a product to your Shopify Store, wait a few more minutes before editing or viewing the product in your Shopify store. App 2.0 may still be syncing product details. Then, you will need to complete a few steps on the Shopify Product Page to make your product live:
In your Shopify Store:
-
Always check the product for any details that need to be corrected.
Product Title, price, description, etc. -
Assign a Sales Channel
Shopify accepts the App 2.0 product with no sales channels assigned to it. In your Shopify product page find Publishing, select the 3 little dots, and click on Manage Sales Channels.
Select Online Store and any other sales channels you want to add. Then, select Done.
The Mange Sales Channles window will close. If you have a Save button on the top of your product page, press it to save the update.
-
Make Your Product Active
Shopify accepts the App 2.0 product with it's Status in Draft mode. In your Shopify product page, find Status. Select the drop down and change it to Active.
If you have a Save button on the top of your product page, press it to save the update.
Now, your products will be available for sale on your Shopify store.
❌ Do Not Press the "Reqest Fulfillment" button in your Shopify order.
When you receive an order in your Shopify store, you might think you need to press the "Request Fulfillment" button. Please, for the sake of humanity, DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON. We realize a button like this is tempting to press. If you happen to heed temptations call, do not panic! Press the Cancel Request button that appears and peace will be restore to the world.
Our App 2.0 system will automatically receive all Shopify orders within a few hours. Automation is the reason App 2.0 exists.
By pressing the button, it will do absolutely nothing to expedite your order. Infact, it will possibly break the automatic updates App 2.0 sends to Shopify when your order ships. If this happens, copy the tracking # from App 2.0 to your Shopify order.

🚫 Your Candle Products Showing As Out Of Stock On Your Shopify Website
If customers view candle products as 'Out of stock' on your live website, it's typically due to 2 possible reasons.
1. Your Shopify Shipping Profile is not setup.
Any of your Shopify products not associated with a shipping profile in your Shopify store may show up as out of stock. This applies to any products that you sell, not just ours. Because you control how much to charge your customers for shipping, you need to make sure your Shopify Shipping Profile is setup. This is discussed further below in the section ⚙️ Shopify Shipping Profiles: What You Control
Note: For up-to-date info on how shipping profiles work, visit Shopify’s Shipping Profile Guide.
2. Inventory tracking is set to Not Tracked for your products and variants
By default, Candle Builders App 2.0 will add products to your Shopify store with all product and variant options for inventory set to "Not Tracked". If you change this, your products may show up as out of stock to your customers. Candle Builders controls all inventory on our end and you would be notified if there was an inventory stock issue.
3. Your Shopify Payments are not setup or other Shopify account requirements are not finished.
Shopify requires that you finish a complete account set up with them before you can sell products. This includes setting up your Shopify Payments. Otherwise they may show as out of stock or your customers cannot checkout. This is Shopify's policy, not ours, and applies to any Shopify account. Please be sure that your Shopify account is 100% setup.
⚙️ Shopify Shipping Profiles: What You Control
You’re in full control of what your customers pay for shipping. Candle Builders handles production and fulfillment — you decide what to charge at checkout.
When you create products using App 2.0, they’re automatically added to your General Shipping Profile in Shopify. Whatever shipping rates you’ve set in that profile will apply to your candles.
Tip: You only need a separate shipping profile if you want to charge different shipping rates for different product types.
Shopify allows you to base shipping charges on either the weight or order value. If you’re configuring weight-based rates, you can view our candle product weights and box dimensions here.
You can review all of your shipping settings directly in your Shopify store under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
Be sure not to delete shipping profiles created by other apps you rely on — only remove extra “Candle Builders” profiles you may have added manually.
🛠️ Errors When Making Products
Once you've created a product from Candle Builders App 2.0, that product is locked in your App 2.0 Products and it cannot be edited. It can only be sent to other sales channels or deleted.
- If you made an error in making the product in App 2.0, and did not publish it to any sales channels like Shopify, then you can delete it from your App 2.0 account and start over.
- If you published the product to your Shopify store, or any sales channel, and realized there is an error, you can delete the product in App 2.0 and delete it in your sales channel(s). Note, deleting the product from your App 2.0 account will not automatically delete it in your connected sales channel and vice versa. Only delete the product if no sales have been made.
- If you have made sales for the product through your Shopify store, and you need to change some product details, review the section below about Editable Product Attributes in Shopify.
✅ Editable Product Attributes in Shopify:
In your Shopify store, you can change any of the editable attributes below and it will not impact the order details received by our production department.
- Product Title – You can modify the product name to better fit your branding.
- Product Description – Update the description to provide more details or promotional content.
- Product Tags – Add or remove tags to improve searchability within your store.
- Product Type and Vendor – Adjust these to organize your products effectively.
- Pricing – Change the price, compare-at price, and cost per item as needed.
- Inventory Details – Update SKU, barcode, and inventory quantities.
- Shipping Information – Modify weight, customs information, and shipping options.
- Search Engine Listing – Edit the SEO title and meta description to enhance search engine visibility.
- Sales Channels – Manage the availability of the product across different sales channels.
- SKU – You can change the product SKU.
Making any of these changes will not change the production of the product made by Candle Builders.
❌ Non-Editable Attributes Post-Publishing:
These values are 100% locked to the product and cannot be changed. Shopify will allow you to physically change these values in a Shopify product listing. However, it will not change anything in App 2.0 and may cause a number of issues by changing them.
Inventory tracking should stay set to Not Tracked for all variant options
There are several locations in Shopify where you can change how a product impacts inventory. By default, Candle Builders App 2.0 will add products to your Shopify store with all variant options for inventory set to "Not Tracked". If it is changes, it may show up as out of stock to your customers.
Variants
Shopify's options are called Variants. Typically these Variant options are connected to your scents selected when you made the product in App 2.0. Variants may also be connected to other options in other products from Candle Builders. Variants are required and should not be deleted in Shopify. You can change the Variant name and SKU in Shopify as you like.
Label Artwork
The label artwork uploaded in App 2.0 when you made a product is locked. Altering anything about a product on any sales channel you sent the product to, including shopify, will not change the label art associated with it.
Product Scents, Jar size, Jar Color, and Jar Lids (If applicable)
If you need your product to have additional scents, a different jar size, color, or lid, or different label artwork, you will need to create a new product in App 2.0
Exception to This Are Scents Variants
If you made a candle in App 2.0 with 9 scents, publish the product to a sales channel, you can remove the Variant options for the scents in the sales channel. Once removed, you cannot add scents back as a Variant option. Finally, if you decide to remove all scent options and leave only one scent, that one scent needs to remain a Variant option.
