Creating Your Private Label Candle in App 2.0

Creating a product will allow you save your candle within the App 2.0 system. From there you can create manual orders for it or submit it to sales channels, such as Shopify.

  1. Start by clicking Catalog from the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Select which candle you would like to customize.
Candle Builders currently offers 4oz, 9oz, and 13.75oz candles. Scent options are selected later.

After selecting your jar, you’ll be taken to a Preview Page showing your selections. To customize your candle, click the Customize button in the lower-right corner to begin.

Tip: The most popular Candles to offer your customers are the 9oz in either clear or amber. The most popular lid color is Black (Not Black Matte) and a 3" x 2" white label. These are the core products for most of our clients that are building their own candle brand.
Tip: Kraft labels require bold, high-contrast line art and are intended for vintage-style designs only.

The App 2.0 Customizer will display the options to add your label to your candle.

Got Labels?

If you already have your label artwork ready, you only need to use one of these two options.

1. Upload – Use this to upload label artwork that is already complete and ready to apply.

2. Files – View and reuse any label files you’ve uploaded previously.

By default, your candle label art will apply to all selected scents mentioned below.

Manging Layers

When you upload label art or use one from the Files, you will be brought to the Layers section.  This allows you to make any adjustments necessary to the artwork.

Keep in mind, if your artwork is the correct specification, it will automatically align. No additional adjustments are needed.

Label Specs

📐 Need Help? Our Label Spec & Design Guidelines Support Page provides the details on how to properly format your art.

Here is a quick reference for our 3 most popular label sizes & the minimum label art sizes:

  • 4oz - 900px wide by 600px tall
  • 9oz - 900px wide by 600px tall
  • 13.75oz - 900px wide by 1125px tall

We suggest your artwork be in .png format at 300dpi. Larger sized art files are fine with the same size ratio. Example: A 9oz will accept a 1800px wide by 1200px tall label.

Selecting Your Scent

If you want one art label for all scent options, then we have good news for you. This is the default setting as shown in the orange section.
When you entered the customizer, all the scents options available are preselected automatically. Deselect any scents you do not wish to sell. The art label you just applied to your candle in the steps above is now applied to all scent options selected. If this is what you want, please ignore the green dashed section.

Reviewing Your Product Details Before Creating It

Please review everthing before creating your product.

Note: After creating your product, you can edit the title, description, tags, SKUs, and retail prices directly within any sales channel connected to App 2.0. You cannot edit them in App 2.0.

Scents & Images - This shows you the which scents and images will be created with the product.  By default, all scents are preselected in the customizer. To make changes on this, click BACK TO EDIT on the top right of the page.

Product Title, Description, & Tags

After you create a product in App 2.0, you can change the title, description, and tags only in the sales channel you sent this product to.

Product Title - Customize this to describe your candle. You can change this later in the sales channel you send it to. A good format is:
Candle Phrase + Jar Size + Soy Wax + Jar Color.

Product Description – You may customize this as well. It is already written based on the specifications of the candle you selected. We do suggest trying to make this a bit unique to your brand.

Tags – These tags will also transfer to channels like Shopify and Etsy. Keep tags short (under 40 characters) and use 1–3 words that describe the candle. Examples: Soy Candle, Mother's Day Gift, Tropical Scents, etc.

Pricing – Click the arrow under the Size header to reveal variant names, SKUs, and retail prices. You may change the retail price to your retail price. If you edit the price in the top row, all prices will change. The profit details are based on your product cost of the candle. They do not include any shipping costs related to dropshipping your product.

Creating Your Product

When you're ready, click Create Product in the lower-left corner. Creating a Product can take up to 45 seconds to process. You’ll see a confirmation message at the bottom of the screen and you will exit the customizer.

The product you created will now appear in the Products page. If it doesn’t show up immediately, refresh the page.

At this point, your new product is ready! You can create manual orders with it or submit it to your connected sales channel. Instructions for that are covered in Step 7.

Important: Your selected jar size, jar color, lid color (if applicable), label artwork, and selected scents are locked for any product created in App 2.0. While other product details can be changed in the sales channel you connect it to, the locked attributes above cannot be changed.

If you need to change any of the locked attributed, you must create a new product. The only exception would be the scent selection, which can be safely removed on your sales channel, but you will need to keep at least one scent option available as a variant in your sales channel.
